About Diane

Diane DeShong Cannon, a fifth-generation Floridian, has been working in watercolors for over 40 years.  Her love of the medium has grown throughout the years as she has developed her distinctive style and conquered the many challenges of watercolor painting.

Diane specializes in lush Florida florals, semi-abstract landscapes, as well as her popular skinny palm series.

Her inspiration is often found in her own garden, and locally in our beautiful central Florida nature preserves and waterways, and from her travels with her husband.

Diane resides in Titusville with her husband Dudley; they have three grown children and two beautiful grandchildren.

Artist Statement

I have found it is important to me to allow the spirit of the watercolors to dominate the direction of the painting. For me, it’s not about control, as much as spontaneity, fluidity and “spiritual” interpretation from the watercolor medium. These qualities are what attracted me to watercolor and they continue to inspire my artistic journey.
